I say we should use insulation from soybeans. These come from a plant.

Crushing the soybeans releases an oil. The oil can be used to make an insulating foam.

The foam can be sprayed onto walls and in the roof. It can also be made into building blocks and sheets.

The foam helps to insulate the building and stop heat escaping. This foam is made from plants. They are a renewable resource.

There are many types of insulation to choose from. Here are some of them. Which ones do you think come from renewable resources? Can you find out?

  • Sheep wool

  • Polystyrene

  • Glass wool

  • Flax fibre

  • Coconut fibre

  • Rock wool

  • Cotton fibre
